ZooTunes: The good news and the bad news

Periodically I like to go to the Zoo website and look at the Zootunes page and congratulate myself on my good fortune, luck, and planning skills in getting tickets to some of the sold-out concerts.

If this photo isn’t a dead giveaway, then you probably won’t care about the good news.

No, I don’t REALLY do that. But for whatever reason, I checked them this morning and (boo, hiss) Leon Redbone has cancelled his performance. I know you Redbone fans out there are just cursing and ripping out your hair but really, who among us has seen this man in the past few years? A paranoid reclusive loon is one thing, but one who is a performer is really in the wrong line of work. But I digress. He isn’t coming to play. Anyway, you can get a refund on your tickets, those of you who were only going to see Kottke because of him. All the Kottke fans can rejoice that they are getting pure Kottke, instead.

And the good news, a late addition to the list of performances is Seattle favorite, The Decemberists (Wed, August 23). Last year their lead, Colin (can I call him Colin; can I?) opened for the Violent Femmes but this year they are ALL going to be there and opening for their own damn selves. Back across the bridge I go for tickets…

I saw Leon at the Century Ballroom when he was here. Hell, I didn’t even know he was going to be playing ZooTunes. Didn’t show up on Pollstar.

Obviously Pollstar knew something that the Zoo did not. :P Nevermind. I’ll just go to WI to see him in the middle of winter. NOT.
