Leif Erikson Hall
Saturday, March 11 at 10am to 3 pm
Entertainment by local musicians and singers. Presentations and demonstrations of many traditional Norwegian handicrafts, music, dance, and food take place during the day. Get your picture taken in a Norwegian seter (mountain farm setting). Artists demonstrate the beautiful cutwork embroidery called Hardanger, along with spinning, weaving, knitting. Rose painting or rosemaling is a traditional craft dating from the 1700s and many items will be featured with this elaborate painting style of Norway. Find your Norwegian ancestors with the help of our lodge genealogists in the Norna Room. Enjoy traditional foods and observe how these foods are made including delicious krumkake, lefse, smørbrød (open faced sandwiches) and ertesuppe (pea soup) in our Auditorium. Children’s activities abound from making butter to finding out about the fishing industry in our Kaffestua. Viking games and crafts are also a big part of the day.
