Seafair is evidently some kind of festival that rocks the house in Seattle every year. I can’t be too sure because despite living here forever, I’ve never actually seen, participated in, or heard anything about any Seafair event. Apparently water is heavily involved. But if it’s just a big joke on me, the Blue Angels must be in on it, because they enjoy rattling the windows of the towers downtown all week. And people enjoy watching them do it. . sort of a festive simulated air raid. They should fire confetti Sidewinders at each other to really generate excitement.

If you’re feeling more investigative than I am you can get to the bottom of this whole mystery, starting at the Seafair site, which features the words ‘fun and entertainment’ next to a picture of 5 people about to drown in a homemade raft. Enjoy!

Have you never seen the Milk Carton Derby at Greenlake? Heard the Hydros revving in the pits on Lake Washington? Experienced the youthful joys of the Torchlight? Get into it like you’re into so much else in Seattle. The Seafair Pirates will make you feel like a kid again, which is, as far as I can tell, the entire cause of adulthood.

I did a 5k run for Seafair last weekend. And personally, I think that the Blue Angels are amazing, but maybe that’s just me.
