Adam Curry is Coming to Seattle

This week, I announced my fifth annual tech conference, Gnomedex. It’s happening at Bell Harbor in downtown Seattle. This morning, I confirmed that Adam Curry will be keynoting! All registered attendees will have WiFi, power strips, and unlimited food and beverages throughout the weekend’s scheduled events.

You’re all invited to attend; we plan on having a great time, as always.

I hope that Seattle is warm to Gnomedex – as I’d like to do it again in this great city.

Celebrity Snow Jam!

There’s a Celebrity Snow Jam going on in a few weeks… Easter weekend, as a matter of fact. I’ve been invited to cover it by the founder of the DMD fund – which is raising awareness and monies for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. I’ll have my mic and recording gear on hand, grabbing sound bytes from celebrities who came out of their southern California shell. Admission is pretty decent, and it’s happening up in our neck of the woods.

Here’s the weird thing (and I’ll have my interview with the DMD Fund coordinator posted soon)… in a phone conversation with the event coordinator, who happens to be an old Gnomie and Kevin Weisman’s (of Alias fame) stepfather, I was told that kids afflicted with DMD still have dexterity in their fingers, so they can still play video games.

I figured y’all could help me assemble a game / hardware donation for the cause? Got any old video games lying around that you no longer play? Or, just bring ‘em to one of the scheduled events.

There’s only one other wireless B access point broadcasting a signal in my neighborhood (Leschi-ish, with great views of downtown Bellevue). Still, I’m going secure with my new G network – picked it up from Best Buy in Bellevue the other day, which is (according to them) the only BB store that has a “Business” program – which is essentially a no-cost way for anybody with a company to get into their rewards program. Got me a ~$20 gift certificate comin’ in the mail now. So, all you local entrepreneurs, get your butts over there and sign up already. But if you need a wireless B network and/or a laptop, I’m ready to unload mine. Too bad BB wouldn’t take ‘em for credit, eh?

Geek Dinner This Thursday Night

After this week’s live show, we’re gonna be gathering down the street at Blu Water (Leschi) at 10pm – so it’s more like a Geek Midnight Snack. There’s a bar and a restaurant that’s open ’til 1AM, but no Wi-Fi. Bring your camera, cards, and make reservations ASAP so that they’re not overwhelmed and understaffed. Spread the word to other Seattle-area geeks. I’m looking forward to meeting even more of you! Geeks are obviously welcome, and more than welcome to bring their non-geek counterparts.

Okay, I’m in. As in, in – living here. That, and in – into Metblogs. Blogging. Within days of settling down, I set up a discussion list for any Seattlite to join. You’re all welcome to hit it. Just found a great recommendation for auto body work – as Ponzi, my fiancee, had issues with our old garage wall. Oy! And hey, if you were at last night’s Seattle Bloggers Meetup, be sure to sign in and identify your icon. I talked about doing monthly geek dinners after my live show – down the street there’s a great bar / restaurant that’s open ’til 1AM. Stay tuned.
