7:30 p.m. – Henry Petroski reads from “The Toothpick” @ Town Hall – You can extrapolate out a lot of knowledge about us humans via the history of the toothpick, I hear. Enough for a whole book, apparently.

7 p.m. – Zombie Movie Marathon @ Chop Suey – Shaun of the Dead, Dead Alive, and Zombie II. Get scared for free!

Friday – Circus Contraption @ Theo Chocolate – The crowd that follows CC is waaaaaay into Halloween, so this should be a thang. No “Thriller” re-enactment this year, sadly, but this should still be fun anyway; I’ll be throwing on the zombie makeup anyway.

Friday – Halloween Funk Spectacular @ Nectar – Altered States of Funk, Lord Funkleroy and the Freakenstein Orchestra; ya go dance. Light show, monster mash procession, ouija boards…

Friday (ZG) – Alice Sebold, author of the Lovely Bones and Lucky reads from her most recent novel, The Almost Moon at the Central Branch of the Seattle Public Library from 7:00 to 8:30 pm. Free

Friday (ZG) – the Seattle Thunderbirds take on the Saskatoon Blades at 7:35 pm at Key Arena.

Saturday-Sunday – SkiFever & Snowboard Show @ Quest Event Center – Pick up some stuff for what I am hoping to be a spectacular ski season!

Saturday – Hive Mind Halloween @ Youngstown Cultural Arts Center- Shelley Farnam and friends throw a bash. Costumes required. Drinks, munchies, visuals, mobile games. All that and it’s a fundraiser, too: “Last year, we raised enough money to fund an entire school in Nepal!”

Saturday – Chop Suey Presents a Glamtastic Halloween Party with… HALLOQUEEN (amazing Seattle Queen tribute w/members of The Rockfords, Goodness, Cmon Cmon, Flight To Mars), Jennie and The Bets (Seattle’s best 70s Elton John tribute ever w/members of Young Fresh Fellows, Zero Down, The Beltholes), Buttrock Suites, AJ/DJ. Rawk.

Saturday 8 p.m. – Haunted Brew House Tour @ Rainier Cold Storage Brew House, 5900 Airport Way S. – “The Rainier Brew House is a great place for a haunted house, especially when members of Actor’s Theatre of Georgetown and Circus Contraption are haunting it!” The CC folks should be all warmed up from the previous night’s activity. Cash bar, too, ’cause it’s fun to be drunk AND scared.

Sunday (ZG) – The Seattle Thunderbirds take on the Brandon Wheat Kings at 5:05 pm at the Key.

Sunday noon – Sexy Jack-o-Lantern Contest @ Babeland – I suggest getting your sexy/scary cross-pollination out of you and onto an inanimate object, like a pumpkin. There’s prizes that your body/your significant other’s body/bodies will like.

Friday-25th – “Superbad” @ The Big Picture – If you’ve never been, B.P. (located under El Gaucho) is a cosy little movie theater w/ terrific seats, and a bar right outside. Get a swanky drink before, and order more, ’cause they’ll deliver ‘em to your seat! “Superbad” is supergood, BTW.

Friday – Broken Disco 7 @ Chop Suey – This series gets bigger and bigger. Go dance.

Friday – Brad @ Neumo’s – My namesake band, starring Pearl Jam’s guitarist and friends. Just listened to them on Napster. Well, they have my name. Go get your grungy-ish on.

Friday-Nov 10th (Wed.-Sun.) – “Bat Boy the Musical” @ ArtsWest – A musical take on the (in)famous story from the Weekly World News about a boy who is a bat and a boy. Stars ever-kick-assing Nick DeSantis amongst other talented folks.

Friday-’till I don’t know when – Tim Burton’s “The Nightmare Before Christmas” In Disney Digital 3-D @ Pacific Place – Man, things popping out of the screen at me? I’m there!

Friday-21st – Seattle Bioneers Conference 2007 @ Seattle Center – Go get green. There’s a gala Saturday night.

Saturday-21st – Evergreen Cat Fanciers presents “Show Cats Helping Street Cats” @ Seattle Center – “A 12-Ring Back-to-Back Championship & Household Pet Cat Show.” I went to a cat show recently to support a friend’s purebred, and I have to say, you should experience a cat show at least once in your life. And heck, you can see presentations like “American & British Shorthairs – what’s the difference?”!

Saturday-21st – The Esoterics present “RU’IA” – “To commemorate the end of Ramadan, the Muslim month of fasting and reflection, The Esoterics will present this concert of repertoire inspired by Islamic scripture and poetry.” Seattle’s “most innovative choir”, in the next-to-last show of their season. Saturday’s show is at the Olympic Sculpture Park!

Sunday 2:45 p.m. – Zombie Walk @ Fremont Troll – Go get in your zombie outfit, meet up with other zombies, and go spook Fremont. There’s another one on the 29th @ U Village, but it’s at a Monday 4 p.m., so you may have to ditch work to get to that one.

Sunday – Opera Cafe presents “Halloween/Dia de los Muertos” @ Columbia City Theater – They bring opera down to Columbia city, and tart it up with Circus Contraption performers. Come in costume and win costume prizes!

Sunday-23rd – Community Media Film Festival @ Central Cinema – Go celebrate public access.
