Seriously! I want to go back home to Portland, but all I get is traffic. I’ve been sitting here around Tacoma for awhile now due to a freeway blocking accident at mp 123. I knew about the blockage around 1pm, so stopped off in Tacoma for lunch, hoping it would be cleared by now. Oh well.

Seattle, you did not disappoint. I enjoyed everything about my visit, even this traffic. Come visit Portland if you get a chance.

Got beer? I know that’s a tired phrase, but it is what came to mind when i was in Brouwer’s. they have an amazing menu of draft beers, including numerous regional micros along with old school belgians. I think they had 50+ taps. I enjoyed beers from the Great Divide brewery and the Fryer’s brewery. The Fryer’s Afterburner was truly a crazy bitter beer. I wanted hoppy and i got it. This beer left a film of bitterness (the good way) on your toungue. Wow! I was tasting that beer 30 minutes later. With my beer, i enjoyed a great smoked salmon plate with roasted capers… Yum!

last night, after wandering downtown looking for a charger for my phone, i ended up heading into Belltown for some nibbles. i am familiar with the area but didn’t want a sit down shi shi meal, so i went to the Frontier Room. it was pretty quiet when i arrived, so i ventured to the bar and picked out some food and drink. the bartenders were cordial, but a bit stand-offish and not talkative. it took me ordering my Florida Cowboy to get the party started. i asked the bartender for a strange drink - something rarely ordered - and i got a Rusty Nail. that’s with Drambuie (sp) and scotch. it was ok, but i don’t think i’ll order it again. next up was a singapore sling with mezcal on the side. suffice it to say, i finished the mezcal, but not the sling. i really enjoyed the frontier room and the atmosphere. it is probably a place i wouldn’t venture on friday or saturday due to the crowds and such, but on a wednesday evening, it was just right.
also, along the way, i came accross a cool abandoned chair. i soo wanted to tell everyone about it, but my camphone was dead. i went back in the morning and it was gone. hopefully it went to a good home and not to the dump. there’s gotta be a way to tell others about abandoned free stuff on the streets.

Seattle is so nice when it is sunny and warm. especially in spring. guest blogger from Portland metblogs here for the week to add a different perspective to your fine city. i have visited many times, but have never been in a position to actually write about my experience here. now i do.
i’m here for a week, so i have some requests for you at the end of the post. yesterday was amazing. the weather was just right and i got out of class a little early so I could venture out and wander the streets. i’m staying downtown, so i’m not far from anything. i’m a walker, so my first task was to venture up to Capitol Hill. i needed some din din and remember there were some choice eateries up there. i walked up Pine and then down Broadway to Pike and just snaked through the streets. honestly, nothing was screaming at me. there were some nice places, but since i didn’t know what to expect, i was a bit reserved. i finally ended up @ The Broadway Grill. great bar, great beer and a great salad. i’m glad i wandered in.
my walk back to the hotel took me down Pike where i discovered the interenet cafe i’m blogging from - Uncle Elizabeth’s. YAY free wifi.
So, my question for you - Wednesday evening - what should I do? I want to walk somewhere and get some good food. Maybe score a happy hour with good food AND drink. help a fellow northwesterner out. and…eat more pie!
also, i take pictures of everything, even my cocktails. checkout my ongoing Seattle photostream @ Flickr.
