What’s that about? I thought we were a fairly forward moving state. But then again, I guess maybe we live in a forward moving city.

Also, what in the world is going on with all the shutting down of schools, increasing gas taxes…etc. Sorry, I was in a bit of shock and I’m curious what you all think about what’s going on in our fair city and state.

What is happening now is something far more interesting for those of us who, like Paris, enjoy drinking our dinners. What I’m referring to is the Seattle Shake. For 15 dollars you can have two alcoholic beverages and an appetizer. That sounds like my kind of deal. For menus and participating locations (such as the Bada Lounge, Chapel Bar, and the Mirabeau Room…May 1-22)Click Here!

Alright, so the activity that I partake in the most around Seattle is hitting up local shows and bands that I really like seeing. What I have yet to figure out is why some of the venues take so long in putting a show on. Neumo’s…it takes about an hour to actually get the band on stage. However, the band gets there quite a bit before the show opens so why aren’t they ready to go?…And why is it that at all ages shows, the 21+ crowd is forced to suffer upstairs to have a beer on a platform that says ‘Maximum Occupancy 30′? The Showbox is fairly good about starting on time…most times. However they aren’t great about letting you know camera policies or where the line might be. The Crocodile is my favorite venue I think. Its small, intimate and fun. I’m excited about all the shows coming up there. All bitching aside…here are some shows that I think you should check out in the next few weeks… ( Garbage, Minus the Bear, Luke Temple, Q & Not U, Velvet Teen, Harvey Danger, The Donnas, British Sea Power, The Thrills, Math and Physics Club, Snow Patrol, Sloan, Bright Eyes…to name a few. I’ll be there and I hope to see you too!)

Some of you may be asking…what the hell is a ‘zoo tune’. Haha, when I first moved here I wondered the same thing…and wondered myself right out of tickets to see They Might Be Giants…and I hear it was alot of fun. The Washington Mutual ZooTunes summer concerts are held at the Woodland Park Zoo during the summer months.

The complete ZooTunes line-up will be announced on May 6. Tickets will go on sale at all Metropolitan Market locations and zoo gates on May 9!

SNEAK PEEK!!
Here is a partial list of acts in this year’s concert series:

July 20 – Marc Cohn and Suzanne Vega – $19

July 27 – Bruce Hornsby – $19

August 10 – Violent Femmes – $19

August 17 – Cowboy Junkies – $19

August 28 – Neko Case – $16

Have you seen this man? I know I posted about this earlier but due to recent developments and having seen him just about everywhere, I decided to write another post about him (and hopefully ladies, we’ll get some stats about him as soon as he gets back to me). His name is Emery Carl so I can stop calling him the Pike Place Guitar Man. I actually saw him as I was leaving the Decemberists show on Friday night at the Showbox. He did this amazing thing where he balanced the guitar on his chin, danced in a circle and all the while telling jokes. I was amazed. I just stood there for the longest time. It was really great. If you see this man, give him a huge thumbs up and a high-five from me, Beth…oh, and if you can spare it, put a donation in his boot. Those cute little bells on his boots aren’t cheap ya know! More information about Emery and his act can be found, HERE!
