Urban Craft Uprising roundup

So you missed the Urban Craft Uprising this weekend, but you still want to support local indie crafters while you’re doing your Christmas shopping? Well, fortunately for y’all I went and stuck around for hours, chatting and buying and generally having a good time. And while there was so much that was great, here are a few that really stuck:

Attic Journals: They use the covers from old books to make new journals, which makes them so much cooler than that leather journal your aunt gives you every year because she knows you like writing. Or anyway, sitting at Bauhaus pretending to write.

Deviant Design: I love handmade pillows, but interesting ones are usually so expensive. Deviant Design’s pillows were so cool and inexpensive, I fell in love with this one and brought it home with me.

eight3one: Being the favorite aunt/uncle is a lot easier when you start laying the groundwork early. They had a pink onesie with a grasshopper on it, for chrissakes.

Orange Peel Enamel: Kiln-fired enamel jewelery, perfect for ladies with discerning tastes. The pendants come in three sizes, and they’ll go with almost anything she has.

Paperchatter: We’ve discussed before how I’m a stationary snob, and Paperchatter’s products use quotes from vintage etiquette books–for the society matron in your life.

Persnickity Designs: Not only do they make awesome bags, but Rebecca and James were two of the nicest people I met yesterday. If you want to buy something for the favorite Metroblogger in your life, you could get her a Hopper Mini with a cherry.

Sola Christine: One of her skirts came in my swag bag but I could have fit two of me in it, and she nicely let me switch it for one that fit. I especially liked the vintage slips the she turned into interesting, girly skirts.

Soopajdelux: Jenna Colby’s work is clearly reminiscent of Mark Ryden and Yoshimoto Nara–anyway, that’s what I thought as soon as I saw it–but is sweeter and more ethereal.

Sam Trout: If I had a hipster in my life, he’d be wearing Sam Trout’s sunken ship t-shirt.
