our glossy mayor : greg nickels in vanity fair
Spotted this weekend in Vanity Fair:

This month’s theme is “the Green Issue” [vf], in which their magical photographers make anyone associated with making the planet a little bit healthier look outstandingly great. Everyone from bloggers, to non-profit founders, to former vice presidents, to celebrities practically glow when viewed through the environmental filters. Everyone, that is, except for the “Men from City Hall”, including our own Greg Nickels (for forming the U.S. Mayors Climate Protection Agreement).
Apparently, there seems to be a taboo against elected officials appearing in fashion magazines in anything other than the costume of high school basketball coaches.
