Readings, signings, and other events vaguely literary for Thursday, December 11, 2008
* 6:00 PM: Northgate Barnes & Noble has lined up three local foodies to sign their respective books: local celebrity chef Tom Douglas will be there, so bring in your copy of I Love Crab Cakes! or purchase it on-site as a gift to the crustacean lover on your list; Seattle chef, menu designer, spokesperson, columnist, et cetera, Kathy Casey is featured; and Northwest oenophile Paul Gregutt completes the roster of foodie goodness.

* 7:00 PM: Prestidigitator Joshua Jay will be at the U-District UW Bookstore to sign Magic: The Complete Course and talk about same. The cover photo sort of makes J. Jay look like post-afro, pre-beard Justin Timberlake, don’t you think? Compare and contrast…

* 7:30 PM: Elliott Bay Book Co. hosts local poet Paul Hunter. Hunter is promoting Come the Harvest, a collection of poems about, er, well, I quote, “outhouses, cash crops, 4-H piglets, suicide knobs, the top-rail of the fence beside the barn” (Maurice Manning). Sounds like a pleasant little chapbook, I’m sure. Just the thing to brighten up a PNW winter.

Note: Edited title because it’s DECEMBER, not NOVEMBER.

You mean December, right? Feel free to delete my comment post-editing :)
