* 7:00 PM: SPL celebrates the centennial of Northwest poet Theodore Roethke’s birth with discussion and readings by poets Linda Bierds, Andrew Feld, Richard Kenney, Colleen McElroy, Heather McHugh, and Pimone Triplett. Central Library, Microsoft Auditorium, Level 1. * 7:00 PM: Seattle photographer Paul Bannick will be at the Center for Urban Horticulture to discuss his new book, The Owl and the Woodpecker: Encounters with North America’s Most Iconic Birds. Call 206-543-8616 for information.

* 7:00 PM: Tor has Brandon Sanderson and David Farland doing the book tour thing to promote their respective epic fantasy novels: Sanderson winds up his Mistborn series with Hero of Ages, while Farland is flogging Wyrmling Horder: The Seventh Book of the Runelords. Sanderson is something of a protégé to Farland, as well. Both will be at the U-District UW Bookstore to read and sign. [LINK]

* 7:30 PM: University Bookstore and Pacific Science Center welcome Robert Park, author of Superstition: Belief in the Age of Science, to the Eames Theatre for a discussion of superstition in contemporary American culture. $5 GA, free to PSC members and students.
