Baby Orca Ahoy!
In a followup to my earlier orca story, it sounds like there’s some good news for the Puget Sound orca population- researchers discovered an hours-old baby orca on Tuesday, according to the Seattle Times. (#)
The baby orca (or calf, if you want to get technical) belongs to 34-year-old Marina (L47, again if you want to get technical). As with the death of Lummi, the orca calf (L111) won’t be counted until it has been spotted again next summer.
