I think the rule is once they ask for an ID they can't let you in without one. But maybe they just saw her at the CHBP hanging out with Vampire Weekend and underestimated her age?

Considering the relish with which the Liquor Board will fine or otherwise punish even the most minute violations of code, I don't blame the bar for denying Gregoire, either. I'm hopeful that this will maybe plant a seed in the governor's mind that, hey, maybe we should take a look at the WSLCB's policies and enforcement practices.

That said, I think lot of bars have their own rules about IDing everyone.

I am pretty sure you ARE allowed to be in a bar without an ID as long as you are of legal drinking age. I remember that from when I got my servers permit though I can't recall the exact rule.

Legally I believe bars can be fined and possibly have their liquor license suspended if enforcement catches patrons without ID in the bar, even one as obviously over-21 as Gregoire. I don't blame the bouncer for doing his job from that standpoint, and it appears that Christine took it with a good heart, not pulling the "DO YOU KNOW WHO I AM?" card (though one of her party tried).
