Tacomawatch: Bird killer pleads guilty
Apparently, there has been “a yearlong undercover investigation by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service into the Northwest Roller Jockeys pigeon club” going on. I know, I had no idea either. The Fish and Wildlife people are very good at the undercover thing [PI].
No, actually, this is no joking matter–it seems these pigeon lovers have been killing hawks and falcons for doing what hawks and falcons do, eating their tasty little roller pigeons. They’re pretty vicious about it, too, suffocating the birds in garbage bags or spraying them with chlorine gas. Some of those birds are protected by international treaty, which means that they probably shouldn’t have bragged on the internet about killing them. The first one of the pigeon fans has been indicted and pleaded guilty, and was given 120 hours of community service.
I can only imagine that Operation High Roller (seriously) caught a whole mess of people killing the wrong sorts of birds, and that this is just the beginning of a turbulent time of bird cases in the Tacoma courts.

Undercover Fish and Wildlife agents (did they wear hunting gear and camo?)
Mafia-style bird killing.
This is a made-for-tv movie waiting to happen.
I’m in favor of prosecuting anyone who tortures animals to death, but I’m thoroughly confused by someone who claims to be a lover of one sort of animal while being willing to kill others in brutal ways. Why is a pigeon so much more loveable than a hawk? People are nuts.
