Nice story! Yes, you're a good hostess!

I just moved here from Atlanta...even though I've been to most of all the places you mentioned, I want you to take me out for food!

Btw, hilarious that my BF, who has been living here for a year now, owns three freesbees and made me throw it last time we went to Volunteer Park. I found it...strange at first. Not that people don't throw freesbees in Piedmont Park, but it's not as common as in here ;-)

I tend to split the difference between TonyB's attitude towards guests and yours. And even with a bit more moderation, I'm still exhausted when guests leave.

Though I'm older than you are, so that could explain it.

I love Queen of Sheba and am definitely on an ethnic cuisine kick at the moment. I'm with jessejb, when are you planning to take us around?

I thought this was going to be a story about how terrible the experience was. I live here and I want you to take me places!

Man, you sure put a lot of effort into your guests! We have a totally different attitude when traveling and our house guests seem to adopt it when they come and visit. Basically we give them a house key, a room of their own with cable tv, and usually use of one of the vehicles. Before they come we help them plan out what they want to see and how to do it. After that they are basically on their own to do what they want to do. If they want us to come with them we come, if they are doing something a little more specialized that they want to do and we don't particularly care for we let them go explore on their own. Basically we let them explore as if they just moved to the city and only have two friends. We always eat dinner together and spend the evenings together, but we've found that giving people freedom to explore this great city on their own (with some guidelines) they tend to have a way better time then us just taking them all over the place. Plus it's easier on us.

When we travel to our friends this is pretty much what we do and tell them to expect. We tell them to just go about their normal lives as we can take care of ourselves. We always extend an invitation to the hosts, sometimes they come sometimes not. It makes for a fun vacation where you don't get tired of your hosts and the host doesn't get tired of the guest.
