Olivine, a women’s designer boutique in Ballard, will be closing in the near future, according to MyBallard. According to a commenter, the business is to be sold and reopened under a different name, while Olivine’s owner Julie Merriman will be opening a new boutique in Fremont.

While Olivine is one of my favorite cutesy Ballard stores, its prices were always a little high, and its sizes a little small. I guess one should expect as much in a Paris-inspired designer clothing store, but it didn’t strike me as particularly fitting Ballard’s personality. Still, it’s a little sad to see this shop go, even if it will be reincarnated in two different ways, and I certainly won’t complain about having another fun place to window-shop in Fremont!
