Years ago I used to live in Fremont, just around the corner from the 7-Eleven, and one of my favorite things to do on my days off from work was to wander over to the Fremont Branch of the Seattle Public Library ^[1]. I always liked the way the building fit organically into the neighborhood (at least as it looked at the time) and how walking up the steps felt like walking into the home of a beloved friend.

The Fremont branch isn’t very large, but it’s very homey, which definitely makes it a great location for an exhibition of photos that trace the history of a local family and the Fremont house they shared for over eight decades. “Closing the Drawers: One House, One Family, One Good-bye” will be on display in the main reading room at the Fremont library through the end of June. There’s an opening reception tonight with refreshments served between 5:30 and 7:30. The branch is located at 731 N. 35th St.
