speculation: seattle is going to get streetview google maps soon

I spotted the Googlemobile with it’s attached big camera on top getting onto I-5 near Capitol Hill this morning. I waved. Maybe I’ll end up in the StreetView version of Seattle?

update: Chaya spotted the car on 2nd Avenue, immortalizing the “West Edge” signage.

One of my premier stories over on The Naked Loon has become something of an accidental clearinghouse for people to report Google Street View van sightings: Google: Street View Not Coming to Seattle, So There

Apparently they see the van, then Google something like "street view Seattle," and end up there. What’s funny to me is that some of them don’t seem to get that the story is a joke.

I hadn’t seen that — the comments are almost funnier than the story!

Funny, I just posted my own Street View sighting and some photos of the famed car earlier this morning:

Yeah, I had tweeted this when I saw it on May 30th. I’m on the NE corner of 2nd and Bell. YAY! we’re a real city now!
