SIFF Review: Mirageman

Oooooh, a superhero movie!

I have a confession to make. This year, I really didn’t even know what movies I was going to see at SIFF. Even though my husband and I typically sit on the sofa with the SIFF guide and IMDB open on the laptop and plan out every film, this year, I just didn’t have the energy for it. I had a dozen projects to juggle and so I let my husband choose the movies. As a consequence, I’ve walked into a couple of the movies having no idea what I was going to see. This was one of those times. Fortunately, we mostly like the same movies, so I haven’t been disappointed once.

Instead of writing a long review that largely mirrors my husband’s review, I’m just going to link to his review [here ] and then add some final comments.

I agree with most of what he said. I enjoyed the movie, despite the brief technical difficulties. The only part of the movie I wasn’t thrilled with was the ending body count. I felt like the hero turned into more of a vigilante by the end of the movie and less of a hero. Of course, he was still doing heroic things, but not in what I think of as a heroic manner.

Unfortunately, the SIFF screenings of this film are all over. I would still recommend it if you can find it as a rental.

this was a fun movie if not overly heavy on the montages; I’ll bet it was a little more fun at midnight though.
