Seattle Greendrinks turns 5!
Seattle Greendrinks turns 5 on June 10th, and to celebrate they’re throwing themselves a little par-tay and you’re all invited. The concept of Greendrinks began in England in the late eighties; Gabriel Scheer (just google the name) started the Seattle chapter in June 2003. If you’ve ever attended one of their happy hours (think social networking for the environmentally conscious) on the second Tuesday of each month, you’ll know that this isn’t a bunch of hippies, or corporate wannabes getting together to discuss woulda, couldas. Instead, people like you and me get together to educate themselves and each other, as well as discuss sustainable living practices that can be implemented now.
From the invite:
There will be amazing food and beverage options provided by Full Circle Farms, Herban Feast Catering, Sierra Nevada Brewing Co (launching a new, limited edition brew on the night), Kestrel Wines, Guayaki, DRY Soda, Grounds for Change, Clif Bar, Cha Dao Tea, Mighty O Donuts, Field Roast, and others.
A huge thank you to all of the sponsoring companies listed above, as well as our headline sponsors, The Pear Garden, Full Circle Farms, Herban Feast Catering, Sierra Nevada, Marenakos, Alchemy Goods, Envision Homes, Pyramid Communications, 1ThingSeattle.com, Kestrel Wines, Antioch University’s Center for Creative Change, and the Seattle Art Museum. Thank you, too, to Evergreen Escapes and Propel Biofuels, who will be teaming up to provide biodiesel-powered rides back into downtown, where you can catch a bus home, starting at 7:30 on the evening of the event.
Think it’ll be a snore? Think again! Not only is the location an epitome of the reduce/reuse/recycle ethos, but the event will feature music by KEXP’s very own DJ Riz! You’re encouraged to get to the event in the most sustainable possible manner. Buses to the venue leave every ten minutes from 1st Avenue. Bike racks will be available, as well as the aforementioned rides back into downtown to aid in this aspect of the endeavor.
Visit Brown Paper Tickets, pay your ten bucks ($11.24 with service fee, but hey, it’s cheaper than TicketMaster) and viola! Show up at the secret, to be disclosed located and enjoy the fun. Rumour is that you’ll be part of a Guinness Book of World Records attempt.
Greendrinks will also be featured at the SAM remix at theSculpture Park on Friday, June 6th.
