Combining those things about Temujin/Genghis Khan that are known with what is known of Mongol culture, I'd say it's probably a good fictionalized representation of what his life was like which is as close as we're ever likely to get. When I was young I went through this phase where I was absolutely fascinated by ancient history but eventually got distracted into other interests; the film definitely makes me want to go back and study it all over again.
