Seattlites are passive aggressive

What happens when your car alarm goes off all day? Seattlites will leave notes under your windshield wipers.
Notes

The last time I had to sit through a car alarm going off non-stop for hours, it was at 3am. Enough neighbors located the car and called the police (non-emergency) and had the car towed. Unfortunately, it’s not the right time of day to do this. High density neighborhoods are not a good place for an ultra-sensitive car alarm.

    Absolutely, Wesa!

We Seattlites are so caught up on being politely-rightous that this is how our frustration comes out.

There’s a site that gives examples of this I LOVE, called passiveagressivenotes.com. When you see a note, yoiu just post it. This is one of my favorite ones.

I’m curious, what would be the appropriate way to handle this? Wait around to see whose car it is and confront that person face to face? That sounds stalkerish. A note seems reasonable for this particular situation.

    funny.

on a completely nitpicky note - while I agree that people here can be very passive-aggressive i think this isn’t a good example. for this to have been real passive-aggressiveness, one of the note-leavers would have had to have had the opportunity to confront the offending car owner in person but chosen to avoid that confrontation with a note instead. to ryan’s point, i don’t think they had that opportunity. and i don’t think that just because they didn’t have the car towed means they’re P-A.

I do think that "politely righteous" sums it up quite well. :)

I find it amusing that folks felt one note was not enough. Everyone had to have their own say. That is the way it goes at public meetings too, even though it is a repeat of what 5 people prior have already said.

Yeah, see, if dis had happened in, say, New Yawk, or, Phillie, da’ car woulda’ had its windshield smashed by a brick instead.

Because nuttin’ beats passive-aggression like actual aggression…
