Sunday’s Must-Read

Are you wondering what might happen to Clay Bennett and his Sonics ownership group now that they’ve entangled themselves in a web of deceit and lies? [p-i] Probably nothing, says the Times‘ Danny Westneat. His next observation makes me think we might be lucky to get rid of the NBA.

Last summer one of the Oklahoma owners, Aubrey McLendon, blurted to a reporter that “We didn’t buy the team to keep it in Seattle.” He was fined $250,000 for making a “statement detrimental to the NBA.”

Think about that. In all these layers of lies, only one person has been singled out for punishment: The guy who told the truth.
