Emerald City Center

emerald city center
I just received a press release that may have sports fans salivating…

A management consulting group is in the process of collecting investors for a multi-dimensional, multi-use sports arena to be ideally situated on Pier 46. The owners plan to call the arena “Emerald City Center,” and say it may take anywhere from 18 months to 2.5 years to build. The Center will be 100 percent privately financed, and will include:

  • A multi-purpose entertainment center for professional and collegiate basketball and hockey.
  • Performing arts and family-style entertainment performances.
  • A native-culture facility showcasing the rich heritage of our Northwest Native American, Asian and Pacific Islander populations.

In addition, the Center will include four pavilions to showcase Washington’s Aviation and Aerospace Technology, Natural Resources and Agriculture and Retail. B2 Inc. is forming an advisory council to get community input on the center- if you are interested, you can sign up here. Hat tip to Seattle’s Livejournal community for the heads-up. (#)

Update: There’s also a P-I story up on the project now…

Only sports fans with poor taste will be salivating over that design.
