More flashing signs to go in taxis
Huh. At some point in February, apparently, Seattle Digital Signage put advertising screens up in 10 Orange Cabs, and as no one complained they’re going to put in more [PI].
The screens are mounted on the back of the driver and passenger headrests, facing riders in the back seats. During testing in February, ads interspersed with news headlines and traffic maps flashed on the screens.
In addition, the company made all the cabs available for Wi-Fi, allowing passengers to use their laptops while sitting in traffic.
There’s no timetable for the rest of the screens yet, and they’re going to put them in Orange Cab before they move on to anyone else. I take lots and lots of cabs, but I don’t think I’ve come across one of these. The last time I was in Vegas I took cabs with (mostly broken) advertising touch screens in them, which were more of an amusing diversion than a nuisance. Still, I suppose I’d have to see one before I could judge. Has anyone taken an Orange Cab with an advertising screen in it?
