Blarch Badness 2008: Quarterfinal #1

And there will be a new champion this year, as Seattle Bubble destroys USS Mariner. On the other side, Accidental Hedonist knocks out Vintage Seattle. Guess you folks like to eat more than you like to look at old pictures. What the hell is wrong with you people?

So, real estate vs. food. Welcome to the first quarterfinal, or the first semifinal of the Squirrel Bracket. However you want to refer to it is fine by me.

Create polls and vote for free. dPolls.com

In the other brackets, the races in the bottom half of the Squirrel Bracket are far from settled (closing Monday night), the top half of the Coyote Bracket is not completely settled (though you Hillku fans better get on the ball before Tuesday night), and the bottom half of the Coyote Bracket is wrapping up Wednesday night so vote early and often.

For those of you confused about how this process works, here’s the original bracket post.

Tomorrow: Are we looking at an all-sports quarterfinal? Did J and/or K anger the wrong sorts of Huskies fans? And can anything stop to Lookout Landing juggernaut?

Some might say that the housing/mortgage crisis is just more on our minds than the hapless M’s, but the reality is more like, USS Mariner didn’t lobby for votes even once. After so totally disregarding the competition, maybe they should go into the Enemies of MBS bracket next year…??

Lobbying for votes is a specious argument made by losers not winners. You can only lobby a group that already gives a hoot about you. If yo cannot mobilize your fans you are either: irrelevant, bad, not good enough, or all of the the above.

You need fans A PRIORI. And if you lobby them to take action and THEY DO then you are doubly successful in that you have fans AND that they will act on your and THEIR behalf.

I resent the idea that Seattle Bubble somehow conned me into taking an action that I would not already have taken WERE I TO HAVE KNOWN that such a voting were taking place. THe fact that Seattle Bubble was able to handily trounce Accidental Headonist and USS Mariner means that they drove a ton more traffic to the metblogs site. And from a business POV, that is a good thing.

Any way you look at it, the argument holds no sway.

    Go Seattle Bubble !!!
