Meet Your Blarch Badness Contenders: Glitter Pissing

The main reason why I love Blarch Badness is the exposure to local blogs that otherwise might not catch my attention. Glitter Pissing a perfect example of a blog that is new to me that I will keep tabs on from this point forward. I interviewed Kris, the producer of Glitter Pissing tonight and seriously, anyone who loves Murder, She Wrote is A-OK in my book! The polls are still open!

MB: When did you start Glitter Pissing?
I started the gpiss in 2004 after splitting from a group blog. It was best for all involved, trust me on that one.

MB: How many contributors?
Just me. which is why it’s on a mwf posting schedule.

MB: Why does your blog exist?
My blog exists so i can easily keep in touch with friends and family without having to send out bulk email and/or a holiday newsletter. I’ve tend to move a lot and, honestly, the blog has made keeping tabs on me easier for everyone.

MB: Which genre of posts receives the most comments from your readers?
Aside from the posts that have wordings that could be construed as pr0n (i.e.–”live nude girls”, “jello mold”, “erector set”, etc), I’d have to say it’s the video game cakes and crafts or the retro food segments that I wrote for swapatorium. The food brings people back. Isn’t that what makes the internet go round? food and kittens?

MB: What’s your favorite post/photo of the last year?
I’d have to say it’s the post about when I accidentally bought durian fruit cookies on my birthday. They were super stinky and it caused a violent reaction in the bf even after I’d double wrapped them in plastic.

MB: You post a lot of really creative ideas on Glitter Pissing. Where do you get your inspiration?
Thanks! I get a lot out of watching crappy television. “Murder, She Wrote” has been particularly good to me. (six degrees of Jessica Fletcher! It’s the new Kevin Bacon!)

I’ve also got this thing for Japanese culture so i swipe a lot from that…

And, well, the contents of my cabinets. I’ve been making a lot of drawings with nonarchival materials lately. I started a year long project about it called “suspect and fugitive“.

MB: What do you love most about Seattle?
The monorail. I’m not kidding! It’s, like, 1960’s optimism in train form!

Also I like how willing people are to geek out here. It seems like every party I go to has some video game involved. I never saw that on the east coast or in the south. It’s refreshing.

The coffee’s not so bad either.

In case you were wondering about the name (people do sometimes), it comes from the phrase “I’m so awesome, I piss glitter.” but I don’t think anyone knows about it besides me and a former Ms. Gay Tennessee.

Also, it has assonance. and assonance is funnier than consonance because it has “ass” in it.
