Why do we even bother with spectator sports in Seattle?

Seahawks went up on the Packers 14-0 midway through the first quarter, thanks to Green Bay’s running back fumbling the ball twice. Green Bay under Quarterback And Savior Of All Mankind Brett Favre has won only 0.5% of their games when they’ve been down 14 or more points at any point.

The Seahawks are now down 21-17 in the second.

People wonder why Seattleites are so cynical and pessimistic about the Hawks, M’s, and Sonics. It’s because we know the truth — just when you think they have a chance of doing something great, they’ll find away to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

Knitting, kayaking, bitching about the viaduct, trying to find a parking space in the Costco parking lot on a Saturday afternoon — see, those things don’t crush your hope the way the Seahawks’ inability to play defense can.
