goodnight, belmont

(the belmont, illuminated by police cruiser spotlight)

The thing at the Belmont tonight was awfully nice. People were in good spirits (for a “wake”) and the event was well organized. Inside, there was art all over the place, people bashing down walls without worrying about gas leaks, a rooftop show, that gave way to a makeshift party in the street to the sounds of an orkestar. Eventually, the police arrived and gently encouraged people to go home. After about a half an hour, they started threatening to issue citations to those who didn’t disperse. Then a guy who seemed cool forcibly stole my cardboard wolf souvenir and ran off into the night. The police did not pursue this not at all nice thief.

Resigned to the loss of the wolf and not anxious to be hauled off to jail, we left in search of late night food, walking happily away from the sounds of crowds pounding on dumpsters not wanting to see the scene turning ugly.
