I have been using Safeway grocery deliveries once, and sometimes twice, a month for over a year. I can't remember the last time I paid a delivery fee. I regularly get free shipping codes in the mail from Safeway and there are also free shipping or $ off codes to be found with a farily easy Google search. I can get over the occasional subsitution and an out of stock item once and a while. I'm just glad I don't have to haul around 20lb jugs of cat litter and heavy bags of canned goods on the Metro.

Glad you posted this. I tried Amazon Fresh and got all the way to the end to discover that they can't do unattended deliveries to my residence. They also charge a $9.95 service fee for daytime deliveries under $50. I'm a single guy and it's pretty difficult for me to spend $50 on a trip to the grocery store. I'm just not that good at planning ahead. Most of my friends are the same way.

I love the idea but the restrictions make this a pretty inconvenient convenience.

In summary, I miss Kozmo.com.

I order my groceries online because I don't drive, and Eastlake doesn't have much in the way of walkable grocery stores. I use Pioneer Organics for my produce (or walk down to Pete's when I need something right away), and just use Safeway to stock up on non-perishables every couple of months. It works out pretty well for me, and is much, much cheaper than owning or even renting a car. (Not to mention safer, since I am a terrible driver.)

Of course, if Eastlake would build a damn grocery store instead of more condos, I wouldn't have to use it. But that's another rant.
