David,
Your story is AMAZING. Made my day. Thanks for sharing. I only wish I had the balls to treat customers the way you did during my shitty customer service stints.

I worked at the Broadway one in 1995, and was the worst waiter there, which by my reckoning made me the worst waiter in all of Seattle. I was so bad, I actually succeeded in getting fired, which was almost impossible. I wrote about my career here:

<a href="http://thebluehammer.com/articles/waiter.html" rel="nofollow">http://thebluehammer.com/articles/waiter.html</a>

BTW the owner was a drunken anti-semite who eventually killed himself.

Minnie's closed because of the trans-fat ban, more likely.

For Dutch Babies, try Cyndy's Pancakes on 105th and Aurora N.

Dutch Babies are their specialty and it is a great old diner.

I have to jump on the terrible service and mediocre food bandwagon. One morning, I waited there for 45 minutes+ for our food and our waitress never came to check on us. Then when I caught eyes with her, she had an, "Uh oh," look. She forgot to enter our order, but then didn't say anything to us or apologize when it was an added half-hour on the first 45.
Then, I mistakenly ordered the Eggs Brando, which was eggs in soupy marina sauce. It was sick.

So, I decided I'd only go there for drunken nights.. and hopefully a Dutch Baby. Cause should you really expect great service and excellent food at 3am in an all-night diner?

Unfortunately, I can't mourn Minnies. The food was often terrible and the service next to nonexistent. The only things it had going for it were location, hours and the dutch babies.

That they survived as long as they did is kind of amazing.

Gingerbread pancakes with custard sauce?! That sounds AMAZING.

I'll have to check out Hot Dish or get Ryan to invite me over for Sunday morning breakfast at his mom's. ;)

The Dutch Babies at Original Pancake House are pure heaven. I know.. I had them last weekend.

Also, they serve Dutch Babies at Hot Dish, where they have the ultimate pancake:

Minnie's really ought to blame their mediocre food and excessively awful service for their demise.

Josh, have Ryan introduce you to his mother.
