Yup, those are the P-I readers

It all started as yet another stellar Big Blog post, this one on “the other Amanda Knox,” a.k.a. the New York based actress who isn’t an accused accomplice to murder in the Italian town of Perugia.

But given that this is the P-I, and the commenters on the P-I tend to be both socially challenged and living proof of the Greater Internet F**kwad Theory

I’ve seen several pictures of Miss Knox, and perhaps I’m missing something, but I fail to see why the media keeps reporting she is an “attractive” woman. She looks to be pretty unremarkable…an average early 20-something w/the advantage of being weight/height proportional (an increasing rarity in America, but nothing special). Now granted, most of the quoted language happens to be from British newspapers…and if Miss Knox has straight teeth that don’t resemble Chicklits it reasons she would be attractive to the Brits. But here? Or elsewhere in Europe? Come on…she’s bland at best….

…Actually, in the photo PI has been using pretty exclusively, she looks like one of the Bush twins (that chubby face/lack of cheek bones)….

As for the comments on this post, Amanda Knox (the suspect) is not particularly beautiful. Definitely a “plain Jane” - but with a little make up and a side part, she could resemble Martha Stewart in her prison jumpsuit.

Ms. Barnett, care to lock and load?

oh GAWD. i think this particular commenter, who chose to harp about this poor girls looks, has probably missed more than one point in his or her life…

What a bunch of amateurs. That’s about the only way I can describe some of the commenters over there. Some of the downright nasty stuff they spew is unbelievable.

But yeah, I think some ECB-patented righteous indignation is in order here.

The problem with commenting on the P-I’s commenters is that it’s basically like participating in those “punch the clown” internet ads from years back: it’s so easy and there are so many of them that it gets quickly tiresome, and your only reward is you get forced to read more crap.

(And yes, the more direct “punching the clown” analogy has not escaped me either…)

Hey! Not all Brits have bad teeth.
