friday agenda : people I know are having art openings
tonight, a very special conflict of interest special edition…
- As it is my strict policy only to direct you to the art events of people that I know (a.k.a., the only people who e-mail me about art openings), it is my sworn duty to let you know that my former housemate, Tim Tinker and a bunch of other artists are opening a group show tonight at Solstice (a.k.a., the best cafe in the U District). Drop in tonight between 6 and 9 pm to see why so much of the art in my apartment are Tim Tinker originals. [solstice]
- Continuing on this theme (really, I wouldn’t recommend these events if I didn’t think they weren’t good), the McLeods are turning over half of the collection tonight. The Parlor is now home to Kharis Kennedy’s “Fixed Value”, a three sets of nine paintings focused on the same subject matter exploring the three-dimensionality of paintings and their fundamental properties of light, mass, and energy. Next door, Glimpses of China fills the walls with Sami Khoury’s photographs. [mcleodresidence]
- Before you go out (or at the very least, before you go to sleep), be sure to order a ticket or two to see Battles so that you don’t end up stuck outside begging to get inside tomorrow. [neumos ]

To add my own “people I know with art” entry, my fiance, John, is showing his art at Fuel Coffee on 19th Ave E, all month.
Hey, he should know me too… I’ve been at two meetups….. =)
