Watch for flying trash cans
Up in our end of Seattle (north of 85th Street, aka “the part of Seattle the Stranger and Seattlest will barely admit is part of Seattle”), trash day is Thursday. This is also recycling week, so the green bin is out front as well.
The Windpocalypse is scheduled to hit around 2pm. Trash service usually happens before noon.
So, what are the odds that when I get home at 5:30 tonight we’ll still have a trash can in front of the house — or in front of any house on our block?
Seems like the reasonable thing to do would be to cancel trash service today and reschedule for tomorrow or Saturday. Why hasn’t it been?

Empty Trash cans are way better than full trash cans when it comes to being blown down the street. That trash just doesn’t weigh it down the way it ought to.
You mean either magically double their staff for tomorrow or tell union workers they have a new mandatory work day on Saturday? Good luck with that.
To top it off, according to the weather service the winds aren’t looking like they’ll be nearly as bad now.
