  • Metric is the synth-heavy rock band of Emily Haines, who is also a member of Broken Social Scne and who also sometimes has a solo project called Emily Haines and the Soft Skeleton. If you have trouble keeping track, this is the one where she sings all the time, is likely to topple a keyboard or two, and might just throw herself into the crowd if the mood strikes her. Via Stereogum [#], a link to a preview of a bunch of new songs to get you ready to sing along tonight. [myspace]. With Crystal Castles. $20, 8pm [showbox]
  • Michael Ian Black was among the comedians that you may have missed this summer for fear of big lines for small venues. Shell out some cash to see him performing with fellow Stella member (and the State alum) Michael Showalter. Just because it’s so tragically funny, here’s part of the bio for Michael Ian Black that ran in the Bumbershoot program: “… perhaps best known as the voice of the Pets.com dog. Other memorable credits include Wet Hot American Summer, the NBC dramedy “Ed,” Comedy Central’s “Viva Variety” and a string of appearances on VH1’s “I Love … ” series.$20, 8pm [neumos]
  • Capitol Hill is keeping their second Tuesday Art Walk alive. All over, several times, generally free. [upcoming]
