tickets: jose gonzales + tiny vipers

Josegonzalez Takeaway Clip
still from Jose Gonzalez, “How Low” takeaway show [blogotheque ]

No one will hold it against you if you first heard the quiet melodies and classical guitar strummings of José González by way of an internet commercial for a television [bravia] (some indie music in advertising is more equal than others. Particularly, it seems, when it’s of the Swedish export variety). While his interpretation/cover of the Knife’s “Heartbeats” made a lovely backdrop to a herd of bouncing balls touring the streets of San Francisco, his music holds up quite nicely even without the accompaniment of (vividly-reproduced) multicolored scenery.

On Sunday, José González and Tiny Vipers [myspace] play the Showbox. Thanks to the show’s promoters, we have a pair of tickets to give away so that you can see for yourself. Send a note to seattle.metblogs @ gmail.com that includes your full name and you’ll be entered to win. Special consideration will be given to those who include information about the Takeaway Show linked above, other famous people from Gothenburg, the performance recorded last week in D.C. [npr], the physics of Superballs.

The winner will be notified by the end of the day on Friday. Not willing to press your luck? Advance tickets run $20 [showbox].
