That time again: Bug Blast

If you’ve been playing along on the home version for the last couple of years [mb] [mb], you might be feeling a change in the wind which means that, yes, it’s time for Bug Blast at the Burke again. Between 10:00 and 4:00 on Sunday the museum will be pervaded by insect enthusiasts and their collections of critters.

This year’s special guest is Ciscoe Morris, who will use puppets to explain why bugs are actually pretty great, with a focus on the local sorts. My favorite part is always the excited teenage collectors, who will, if you ask them, explain all about their collections, where they found them, and just how they pin everything down. Carniverous plants and local honey are also usually on sale, and the event is a perfect excuse to check out the Burke’s collection of fossils.

Admission is $8, or $5 for students and youth.
