Entertaining Visitors? Love Ice Cream? Try Bainbridge Island.
Last month, my new fiance and I took my folks to Bainbridge Island. We were looking for a day trip that would showcase some of the beautiful scenery in and around Seattle and would take us out on the water. We had some lovely weather and a fabulous boat ride.

Once we reached Bainbridge Island, however, the real fun began. We wandered around the main drag, flitting in and out of shops, admiring candle holders, dresses, calendars, books, and one of the area’s few travel stores. But the best part of our trip was the discovery of Mora’s Iced Creamery.
It was rather warm that day and our thoughts turned to ice cream. I’ve got a wedding dress to buy (and fit into) and so I foolishly declined. That is my only regret of the whole trip.
Mora isn’t your typical ice cream shop. First of all, you can’t actually see their ice cream. They store it in stainless steel freezers which make for a lovely silver presentation and an amazingly clean store look and feel. Secondly, they make all of their ice cream locally on Bainbridge Island and use fresh and local ingredients. They have a wide variety of flavors including Marsala wine and Hazlenut chocolate. My fiance had a scoop of the Marsala wine ice cream with two shots of espresso poured over the top. It was amazing. Truly amazing.
Mora has a second location in Bellevue Square and you can bet I will be going there soon.

If you’re into ice cream, there’s some kind of ice cream fest happening at Whole Foods on… the 8th or 9th. I’ll be out of town that weekend so I didn’t commit the details to memory, but any of your friendly checkout persons will be happy to inform you.
