Miro Tea - Ballard

Miro Tea in Ballard
I’m lucky that my job allows me to work from home one or two days a week. Oftentimes, I’ll hang out at a neighborhood establishmemt with free wireless rather than staring at the same four walls that I stare at daily at home. So far, my favorite non-work working locations include Fuel Coffee and Mr. Spot’s Chai House. However, both of those locations have loud, often blaring music. While sometimes that is very condusive to the work I do, today I need to read over 200 pages of documentation. Fortunately, I’ve found a calmer location that meets all of my needs: wireless, food, comfortable seats, music, and of course, caffeine.
My new favorite work at home spot is Miro Tea on Ballard Avenue.
We discovered Miro Tea during the Ballard Seafood Fest. They were offering free iced tea samples and had a wide variety of drinks. Since then, we’ve been back three times and it’s very possible we will soon become regulars. Megan, the friendly face behind the sample counter, has already recognized us as frequent customers. Of course, this might be due to the fact that we’ve been to Miro 3 times in less than 10 days. But what can I say? I’m impressed.
First, their tea list. It’s organized into categories including Rooibos, Oolong, Yerba Mate, Green, Yellow, White, Botanicals and Blends, Chai, and of course, Black. They clearly mark which teas are organic, fair trade, or rare. Each day they have four sample hot teas brewed and available for tasting. My favorite so far has been the detox tea. We had that after our night of drinknig at the Farmer’s Market dinner.

My yummy lunch
Their food is also quite good. When we went to Miro for lunch, I had an Italian panini. It was quite delicious. My fiance had the Mate Chicken Wrap which was light and crispy and delightful. They use bread from Tall Grass Bakery in Ballard and whenever possible, use fresh, local ingredients.
I also had a refreshing Mojito Iced Tea. I’ll be going back to Miro regularly. My current goal is to work my way through their list of crepes. The apple fig and walnut crepe I’m enjoying as I write this is perfect pre-work food. Now I just need to get to work.
