Oh pretty please, Pearl Jam, pretty please!
I’m still waiting for Pearl Jam to announce their trip to Seattle this summer [mb]–it’s not too late, it’s not too late. *fingers crossed*
Last night, I received a phone call with a possible anonymous tip. My roommate’s cousin knows someone who works at Pike Place Market who lives next to Eddie…(brother of a girlfriend of my mom and uncle’s brother.) So, basically Metblog readers, this tip is totally legit.
Regardless, there is a little rumor mill that Pearl Jam is planning an unannounced (not no more suckers!) concert at the Pike Place Market’s 100th Birthday Bash next Friday.
So, I checked it out. The Market’s Centennial Celebration culminates on August 17th and is jam-packed with tons of little surprises, including:
- Free Starbucks coffee and onion tartlets from 8 to 9 a.m.
- Performances from some of the Market’s best-loved and well-known buskers. (Including SPOONMAN!)
- The Centennial Championship Salmon Toss (God, if that’s not a reason to go, I don’t know what is.)
- Finally, a Market party in Steinbrueck Park from 6 to 10 p.m., including appearances from some of Seattle’s best-known musical talent: Guitarists Dave Dederer and Andrew McKeag from the Presidents of the USA, Posies and Fastbacks drummer Mike Musberger, Presidents of the USA frontman Chris Ballew, Mike McCready, Pearl Jam guitarist, Sean Nelson, lead singer of Harvey Danger, etc.
At the bottom of the Web post, listing the events, are these special little words:
And other surprises, guests, and special happenings…
AND SPECIAL PERFORMANCES BY LOCAL FAVES
Well, well, well. Could this “special performance” include Pearl Jam? Mike McCready is already on the bill, so it wouldn’t take much more for the band to show-up and put on a hometown, UNCENSORED-by-Bush-loving-weirdos concert.
Who knows. It’s just speculative. But, I’m for sure showing up, just in case.

I’m with you, Jeanna. Fingers are crossed.
