Reader suggestions: Kazoos + local He-Man alternative

Man, some of the things that you people put in our suggestion box make me laugh. First off, a few days ago Eldan, proposed that Seattle try to break the world record for kazooing, which is currently held by Rochester with 2,600 people. (The latest attempt to break the record failed in Harlem on the 2nd. Sorry, Harlem!) Says Eldan, “I think that Seattle needs to burnish its big-city credentials by breaking the world kazoo record. I would volunteer to organise this, but I have about 3 orders of magnitude too few friends.” I could be into that–I’d even bring my own kazoo, which is pink.

And then yesterday, TonyB pointed to the website devoted to finding He-Man in New York, suggesting that we need a Seattle equivalent. The only one that comes close that I can think of is, of course, Link the Zelda hunter, although Slats might run him a close second. Still, I’ve never heard of Slats attacking Urban Golfers like Link did [#], Slats not being given to loud displays of, well, anything really.

I think this all presents an opportunity for a uniquely Seattle display, a game of Find Link among a few thousand intrepid kazoo-ers. In Westlake Center, so that some people will be sure to show up with signs protesting the event. Who wants to organize? Can we get sponsorship for it? You could make it part of Seafair–3,000 kazoos will still be less offensively noisy than the Blue Angels.

Oh man, I’d never heard of Link the Zelda Hunter! This is very intriguing news. Seems he’s been around awhile, but is quite elusive. He and He-Man need to to have a showdown somewhere in Chicago.

I think the seafair tie-in is a great idea. Maybe we could sell it as an anti-Blue Angels protest, and get everyone who gripes about them to try and drown them out.
