india comes to broadway

Masala Broadway Sm

After what seems like ages (but was probably less than a year), the storefront once occupied by Tacos Guyamas in the volatile “Rite Aid block” of Broadway has finally been claimed by a new tenant. Surprisingly enough, it’s neither Pho nor Thai. Instead, central Capitol Hill finds itself with a new Indian restaurant to challenge Majaraja to the south, Chutney’s to the east, and India Express to the north.

If anyone’s bold enough to check out opening day offerings, please report back to let us know if it’s worth a try.

Josh, have you tried Annapurna? I guess it isnt officially Indian, but you will find a many of the same dishes. Their dumplings are very good.

Also, is Chutney’s still around? I saw a sign on the exterior but didnt catch it. It seemed to be a sign for a new business.

Chutney’s is still alive and kicking, however, they have converted the south half of the restaurant in to “Grillside at Chutney’s” as they asked around the ‘hood and people said they wanted a steakhouse a la Ruth’s Chris, so he decided to give the people what they want.

As I only know this because I work nearby, I haven’t ever seen it with anyone in there, but I’m not here in the evenings.

Thanks for the intersting tipoff. Will review these restaurants and try and update GaramChai.com database too.
