In other blogs: grafitti
While reading the Tacoma News-Tribune this morning, I came across a story about a guy in Federal Way who decided to do something about his annoyance with all the grafitti in his city. James Lamb created a blog called Federal Way Grafitti to document grafitti spotted all over the city by him or other Federal Way citizens who e-mail him photos with locations. He logs all this information onto a Google map which is accessible to anyone who wants to go look at it.
Federal Way city workers are quoted in the article as being pleased with Lamb’s efforts to help raise awareness of their grafiti problem.
It’s not a cure all by any means (and I wonder if having their tags highlighted on the internet might be a source of pride for some, encouraging them to do more) but it is an interesting and novel approach to a common civic issue.

Or, there’s the other approach…
