Ballard Seafood Fest Report
Despite the cloudy and somewhat cool beginnings, the sun came out and so did the punk polka fans. Yes, you read that right - punk polka. We walked over to the Ballard Seafood Fest this afternoon (preserving the carbon neutral-ness of the event for us) to catch what I can only describe as Big Band meets Funk meets the Wedding Singer.
Yes, Brave Combo played for a wildly enthusiastic crowd this afternoon. I watched the show with my man and let me tell you - if I could afford to have them play at any potential future wedding I happened to have, I would in a heartbeat.
I’d heard of Brave Combo in a passing “Oh, I went and saw Brave Combo last night” sort of way. Which is to say that I had no clue what type of music to expect. What I got was the Chicken Dance, the Hokey Pokey, a Conga line, and even a waltz. If the music wasn’t good enough, the band has one of the coolest URLs ever (www.brave.com/bo).

Besides the concert, we wandered the vendors, picking up some wonderful Lemongrass soap, jewelry for both of our mothers, and a little something for me.
Oh, and the Ballard Brother’s Blackened Salmon Sandwich can’t be beat. You’ve got one more day to check out the vendors, the wide variety of food, and the entertainment. I’m going back tomorrow for a cupcake.
