Wednesday Morning Music News
The Word Animal
It’s the Wednesday before the Capitol Hill Block Party and I can’t think of a better way to get warmed up for it than by heading over to The Croc tonight for an indier-than-thou local rock show. The Word Animal [m-s] (full disclosure: their lead singer is a friend), with their Les Savy Fav/At The Drive In/Jeff Buckley-esque sound, takes the stage after Hardison [m-s] and Benjamin Bear [m-s]. If you’re usually behind the curve when it comes to discovering new music, tonight’s your night to get ahead. Plus, it’s Wednesday and you were planning on going out anyway. Weren’t you? $6 ($6?!?), doors at 9. Enjoy.
Speaking of the Capitol Hill Block Party, if you don’t already have your tickets and you want to avoid the ridiculous 50% TicketsWest service fee & order charge, you can stop by any Urban Outfitters. Note: The Urban Outfitters on Broadway ran out of tickets yesterday. They expect a new batch this morning but I was warned that they’ll probably run out again this afternoon. Plan accordingly.
