Tikkki Show at BLVD Gallery

When you hear “Tiki Culture” do you find yourself thinking about cute, kitschy art and merchandise? Plastic “tiki god” shaped mugs? Paper leis? Iosefatu Sua and Darvin Vida would like to offer you a more honest view of Tiki culture from anauthentic Pacific island perspective. BLVD Gallery presents their show “TIKKKI” which shows work that revolves around “the use of shameful imagery from America’s past wed with a Polynesian aesthetic to challenge and bring into sharp focus the disparity between reality and Tiki culture.” The show runs from July 13 through August 4; there’s an artist reception Luau on Friday July 13 from 6pm - 10pm.
