Oh look, Seattlest wants to be a Heat Miser

Heat MiserLet’s see… what did I say on Monday?

1. Everyone complains, except for people from the Southwest or Southeast who laugh at Seattle weather wimps.

2. Then the people who were laughing remember they don’t have air conditioning because in this town you only need it three days a year.

And right on cue, a Seattlest Coward pipes up:

KOMO4 weather has a poll going about Seattleites’ “preferred summer temperature.”

We voted for the 80’s but it seems most of Seattle pollsters prefer a more docile 70’s.

Harden the f–k up Seattle.

It’s 90F at Boeing Field right now, 92F at Sea-Tac. I think by 5pm or so, he’ll be a whining puddle of melted Seattle drowning in his own sweat. If you want to help the process along, I recommend one of you duct tape this “Jack” to a parking lot light pole for an hour or so.

Some of us choose to live here because the weather is mild, after all. My Oklahoma family regularly shells out hundreds a month to the power company just to keep their houses from burning up in the 100 degree heat. That’s a wet heat, by the way. Instead, I just endure the three or four days a year it gets Too Hot To Think Or Sleep. (Remember when it was one day a year? Good times.)

But no, Seattlest hides behind their Royal We in the name of supporting the Too Hot To Think hegemony. Please, for the sake of all of us who like it mild, just duct tape the Royal Them to the nearest parking lot light pole. Heck, you’re on your way to the AC at Northgate or Southcenter or Westlake, anyway, right? Just swing by the Seattlest Compound on your way.

Stay chilly, Seattle. Stay chilly.

technically i’m on the Metblogs side. but, i have to stay on the Seattlest side with this one. 70 degrees is just plain ridiculous. the heat here is great. there’s relatively zero humidity. now, heat in florida is another story. i’d say 70 degrees there all the time. but here in seattle, where i’ve lived my whole life, i’d love it if it were 80 degrees year-round.

Bah, this weather is too hot, I don’t care where you are from. One of the best reasons for moving here from Denver when I did was to escape the huge temp range. Below freezing and snow in winter and 90+ for weeks at a time in the summer sucked. I came here expecting Seattle to be a haven of mild weather. So yes, I am going to bitch about 90 degree weather loudly and often.

This stupid heat actually makes me want to stay at work in put in some extra house, which is just wrong…

Anyway, thanks for making me laugh with this post, you all stay chilly too!

I’m with Dylan. This weather suck-diddly-ucks. And I lived in Tucson for over a year were triple digit summer days were the norm. And New York where a 95 degree day in Manhattan makes it hard to even breath. But I’d take either of those over a 90 degree day in Seattle. At least in New York and Arizona you can escape it — in Seattle there’s no way out.

Surly bastards (@Seattlest). I spent the first 18 years of my life in a house in So. Cal with no AC. I spent a day of 118 degree heat in a house with no AC. If I spend the rest of my life under 85 degrees, I’ll be incredibly happy. I adore summer here in part because it stays at that fabulous 75-80 range so much of the time. Warm enough for summery clothes, cool enough to bike, garden, hike, etc.

(Here in beautiful Lacey it’s 96 degrees, by the way. It’s crazy that I’m dreading leaving work!)

Finally someone sane! I moved from the Eastside of this state to get away from the heat and the cold. There’s nothing better than a sunny Seattle sitting at 75 degrees.

Well, not to be a party pooper or anything, but Seattlest Jack is from Wyoming, which has virtually identical weather to Seattle in the summer. The Seattlest kids aren’t so bad, this artificial “rivalry” is kind of embarrassing.

MY weather.com icon says 102 right now (in Woodinville). That’s permission to NOT mow the lawn!

I should say though, I did think that post was stupid and obnoxious. But I find all whining-about-weather posts to be varying degrees of stupid and obnoxious, so yeah.
