Meet Your Farmer’s Market Vendors: Golden Glen Creamery

I don’t know about you, dear readers, but I’m loving this cheese series. Take one of my favorite foods, and combine it with two of my favorite things: writing, and visiting farmers markets. Today’s entry in our series is Golden Glen Creamery. I found them at the Bellevue Farmer’s Market and had a lovely chat with Judy Jensen, one of the owners and cheesemakers of Golden Glen Creamery.

Golden Glen Creamery at Bellevue Farmer’s Market

How Long Have You Been At the Markets: The Jensen women started making cheese in 2004. They’ve been selling at the markets ever since.

What Markets Do You Attend? Golden Glen sells their products at the Anacortes, Mount. Vernon, Sedro Woolley, and Bellevue markets. Their products can also be found at a variety of local stores including PCC, Thriftway, and Whole Foods.

Tell Us About Your Products: Golden Glen Creamery sells all natural products. They sell both soft and hard cheeses, and farmstead butter. Their cheeses include: Feta, Medium, Old, and Very Old Gouda, Dill and Garlic Gouda, Sundried Tomato and Basil Gouda, Jalapeno Gouda, Red Pepper with Onion and Garlic, Sharp, Medium, and Extra Sharp Cheddar. They also sell butter and garlic butter. At the farm store, they also sell milk (pasteurized).

What is Your Favorite Product? Judy’s favorite product is their fat free milk. Her favorite cheese is the medium Gouda.

What Type of Milk Do You Use? All of the milk they use is from Vic Jensen & Sons Dairy, Inc. They have Holsteins and Guernseys. They had upwards of 400 cows just a year and a half ago, but now they are down to 67 cows. All of their cows are 100% pastured.

Remember… if you try one of the vendors we cover in this series, be sure to tell them you read about them on Seattle MetBlogs!
