Seattle - All Farmer’s Markets All The Time

As part of my series ‘Meet Your Farmer’s Market Vendors’, I’ve decided that I need to step out of my usual habits and visit some of the other farmer’s markets around the area. Typically, I attend the University District Farmer’s Market on Saturday mornings and the Ballard Market on Sunday mornings. However, while my past bias figured these were the best two markets in town, I’ve come to discover something wonderful at each and every Farmer’s Market I’ve attended.

Keep reading for a run down of as many farmer’s markets as I can fit into a three week time period.

University District:

Ballard: Ballard is my home market. I live in Ballard and have always felt a strong loyalty to the Ballard Market. This market has an excellent mix of food and craft items. You can find beef, pork, chicken, eggs, vegetables, fruit, cheese, and fish along side earrings, soap, sweaters, pants, skirts, wooden cutting boards, plants, and candles. Parking can be a bit of a challenge, but if you don’t mind walking, plentiful parking can be had at the closed Yankee Grill. There are a couple food vendors, including bruschetta, crepes, and the occasional oyster stew. There are several good restaurants located within walking distance of the market including Other Coast Cafe, Matador, Than Brother’s Pho, King’s Hardware, Old Towne Ale House, Hatties Hat, and People’s Pub.
