How about dinner and a show?

Hot buttered popcorn’s nice enough but after a while, it gets a little old and I find myself wanting to have an actual meal. Since I love food almost as much as I love movies, I really shouldn’t keep forgetting about the Central Cinema, Seattle’s only movie-dinner-restaurant. Two events start a 5-day run at Central Cinema tonight.

First up, the Seattle Greens present The Colour of Olives, a documentary about the day-to-day life of a family in Palestine. One of the interesting details about this film is that it was shot entirely with natural light, a rarely used shooting methodology that might make this movie worth watching just for its own sake. Film time is 9:30 6/6 - 6/9 and at both 7 and 9:30 on th 10th.

YWCA BABES network prsents a show called “Positive Dreams: Weaving Stories of Our Sisterhood”. BABES is a non-profit support organization for women with AIDS or whom are HIV positive. Show time is 7 pm 6/6 - 6/9 and 4 pm on 6/10.

Coming up later in the month at Central Cinema are screenings of Independent Exposure Animation, the Sean Connery as James Bond classic Thunderball and a weeklong showing of Fame with reduced admission for anyone who comes in drag.

Why aren’t there more of these theaters in Seattle?? I remember there was one a long time ago on Aurora that wasn’t very good. I have friends who live in Texas who said there are really good ones there - they go all the time!
